Cyber Doxing

Cyber doxing – obtaining a person’s or organization’s private information and posting it online for public view – often is not illegal and therefore may not trigger cyber coverage. But doxing presents big business risks like loss of intellectual property and reputational damage, and forces companies to devote time and resources to investigations.

This type of cyber incident may become more common as hacktivists seek to make big statements by targeting big companies. Those organizations will be hard-pressed to find relief in the cyber insurance market.
